2019 Ram 1500 Named Truck of Texas

The 2019 Ram 1500 was named the Truck of Texas during this month’s Texas Truck Rodeo, held annually by the Texas Auto Writer’s Association (TAWA). The Truck of Texas is the top honor for the annual event, and the 2019 Ram 1500 also won the Full-Size Pickup Truck of Texas, Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas, Off-Road Pickup Truck of Texas, Best Powertrain for the eTorque Mild Hybrid System and Best New Technology for the new 12-inch Uconnect Touchscreen.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles vehicles took home more awards than any other automaker and that includes Alfa Romeo and Maserati as well as Ram, Jeep and Dodge.

“The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 stole the hearts of our members this year, and has earned our highest honor as the 2019 Truck of Texas,” TAWA President Michael Marrs said in a statement. “It’s not only capable, but it is comfortable, and the attention to detail is unlike anything in the truck market. It’s a home run for the Ram brand that scored the Truck of Texas trophy.”

Sixty-nine TAWA journalists drove 57 vehicles — pickups, SUVs, crossovers and commercial vehicles — over two days and voted on the winners in five categories: Interior, Exterior, Performance, Personal Appeal and Value. In fact, the weather was very challenging as the journalists went on- and off-road through the rain and mud in Bee Cave, Texas, making the 2019 Ram 1500’s win that much more impressive.
