Explore the most Haunted Spots in Arkansas this October!

October is in full swing and our Halloween decorations are strung! While we may think that our yards and porches are frightening enough to scare the children, we know that they’re all for show and we can’t be frightened by them. Looking for a REAL scare? Arkansas is home to plenty of haunted locales, many of which have multiple accounts of paranormal occurrences. Let’s take a look at some of the locations that give us the creeps!

Rumor has it that when passing along Woodson Lateral Road south of Little Rock, many people have encountered a young girl in a white dress hitchhiking along the highway. Their accounts typically follow the same story; they pulled over to give the girl a ride and on the way to the girl’s house, she disappeared into thin air. Eerie, right? According to most, the girl’s parents have turned away countless good Samaritans on account of the girl’s passing years and years ago. This one gives us the heebie jeebies! So, have you seen the girl in white? 

If you’re planning a trip to Bauxite anytime soon, you’ll want to stop by the Bauxite Historical Association Museum. Constructed in 1927, the museum houses artifacts from the nearby mines, including artifacts that many locals believe to be haunted. Workers in the museum have reported hearing disembodied footsteps throughout the building, while others have felt an eerie presence around them, as if they weren’t allowed to leave. 

The Gurdon Light is a local favorite among scare seekers. Located just off of I-30 near Gurdon, Ark., the light is said to be that of a railroad worker who fell from the train and lost his life. His lantern reportedly casts its light through the trees alongside the railroad. If you plan on making your way to the famous site, keep your vision keen and your wits about you. And if you should see a bluish-white light, you’ll know you just stumbled on the famous Gurdon Light. 

The Old Malco Theater in Hot Springs, Ark. was once home to vaudeville films and similar productions, but now hosts paranormal activity that has put guests on edge for years. It’s rumored that during a performance in the 1880’s, a woman offered to volunteer in a disappearing act and never reappeared. Since then, employees have reported seeing a glowing apparition in the basement of the theater and screams from within during closed hours. Goosebumps? We can relate.
