Illinois Bayou | Landers Natural State Series

September 28th, 2016 by

The Landers Natural State Series continues with a fourth location and vehicle for Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Do not let the name fool you. The Illinois Bayou is anything from sluggish. The Illinois Bayou starts on the south slopes of the Ozark Mountains and flows near Russellville and the Arkansas River. The Illinois Bayou is made up of four streams, giving any outdoor enthusiast plenty of options (North Fork, Middle Fork, East Fork, and Main Stem). For the North Fork, floating is during high-water and only for experienced paddlers. The main stem, near Scottsville, offers a considerably calmer float. During low water the Illinois Bayou has short pools, narrow channels, great fishing, and a sense of peace and solitude in nature. With nearby campgrounds, great fishing spots, and one of the prettiest trips in all of Arkansas, you will definitely not want to miss this gorgeous collection of streams.

With so much to see because of the four different streams, you will need a car that gets great gas mileage but also can handle the variety of roads you will encounter.

We suggest the 2016 Jeep Renegade. With the Class-Exclusive Selec-Terrain dial you will be able to tune traction to the road condition. The modes available are Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and Rock. You have plenty of off-road ability. With the estimated 31 mpg you will be able to see as much of the Illinois Bayou as you want!

Come by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for a test drive!
