You LOVED that band in high school, but now that you have your first full-time job out of college, you’ve decided to be a little more professional and remove that bumper sticker. Or maybe you showed your support for a certain political candidate and want to remove your sticker after the election is over.

Don’t worry, removing a bumper sticker doesn’t have to be a daunting task. We’re all for personalization here at Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, but we know that the best car is a clean car, free of stickers and decals.

If you don’t know where to start in your bumper sticker or vinyl decal removal, don’t worry. There are a few different ways to get the job done, but we’re going to tell you about the hair dryer method. Follow any of the easy steps below and you’ll be a sticker/decal removal pro!

First thing’s first. Clean the area with soapy water and a microfiber towel.

If you don’t have a heat gun, grab your hair dryer, or your significant other’s hair dryer and hold it about a foot away from the sticker. Don’t get too close or the heat will melt the sticker, or even ruin the paint if you get it too hot.

Take an old plastic card and hold it behind the corner of the sticker where you are concentrating the heat. We don’t suggest using a razor blade because if you make one wrong move, you’ll scratch the paint. Gently peel the corner back with the plastic card until you can pull the sticker away with your fingers. Continue heating the sticker and slowly pull the sticker until it comes clean off.

You’re going to have some residue left on your bumper from the adhesive of the sticker. Use hot soapy water or any sticker remover product like Goo Gone and your microfiber towel and gently wipe that residue off.

Clean once more with hot soapy water and you’re done!

Here’s a tip: look at the spot with a flashlight or take your finger and feel where the sticker was. It may look like all the residue is gone, but there could be a spot or two where you can feel something and not see it, or not see it until you take a bright light to it.
