Spring Checklist for your Dodge, Jeep & Ram

Winter has passed and spring is here. We’re loving the warmer temperatures and spending more time outside. With the new seasons and the retiring of our coats, it’s time to do a little spring cleaning on and in our vehicles, as well as our homes and wardrobes. We have a few tips so your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and/or Ram vehicle is in tip-top shape for the rest of the season.

1. Check and, if necessary, update your emergency kit.

With winter in the rearview mirror, you probably won’t need gloves or an ice scraper, unless you’re headed to a ski resort for spring break. You might want to keep a blanket handy for that cold-natured friend on road trips and random stargazing excursions. Check to see if your energy bars are in date and if you have batteries in your kit, make sure they aren’t leaking battery acid. Other items that are good to have are a first aid kit, jumper cables, water bottles, flashlight and tire pressure gauge.

2. You should probably replace your wiper blades

Rain is pretty much a constant here in Arkansas, and while we’ve enjoyed sun lately, it’s only a matter of time before we have another week of nonstop storms. Wiper blades wear out pretty fast and a new pair can make the difference in a downpour, especially when it’s dark. They’re pretty cheap and super easy to change out.

3. Check your tire pressure, rotate and/or change them if necessary.

Drastic temperature changes can easily mess with your tire pressure. Now that it’s warmer, make sure your car’s tires are rotated and balanced as well as set to the correct warm weather psi. This is essential to have a smooth ride and can save you money at the fuel pump too. And as tires are the only part of your vehicle that actually touches the road, you should take every precaution with them.

4. Give your car a good scrub down and/or detailing.

You should regularly take your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram through the car wash or wash it by hand, but that’s not what we’re talking about here. We’re talking about the interior. Give your upholstery a good vacuuming or wipe down your leather. Floor mats too. Take out the trash that’s been piling up in your door pockets. Clear your trunk of the stuff that should actually be in your house. If it’s been a while, or you’ve never had your car thoroughly detailed, have that done too! You’ll be amazed at how good you feel once your car is actually clean.
