Late Summer Events Around Little Rock, Arkansas

Days are getting shorter and the leaves are about to start changing. Summer may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean it is time to pack up all the fun. There are still plenty of Little Rock summer activities to pack in before the season completely disappears. Check them out!

Smashingly Beautiful Smash Cakes Rose Design (August 10, 2021)
Have you ever wanted to decorate your own cake? This cake decorating class starts at 6 p.m. and will end around 8:30 p.m. Virtual seating is available. Stop by Art is in Cakes Bakery and Supply, whether online or in person, to learn how to trim and shape a six-inch round cake! The focus is on learning all the techniques, from piping pressure to positioning the tip nozzle just right, to create the perfect buttercream flower petals!
Wire Wrapped Arkansas Quartz (August 11, 2021)
From 5:30 to 7:30 in the evening at Bella Vita Jewelry, Megan Choate will teach you how to make crystal jewelry. The total cost is $30, which includes two Arkansas quartz crystals, leather cords, wire, and the class on how to assemble your own wire-wrapped jewelry. Spaces are limited, so we suggest you reserve your spot soon!
Little Rock Farmers Market (Saturdays, May through September 2021)
Don’t miss the 47th annual Little Rock Farmers’ market season! It starts at 7 a.m. and goes on until 3 p.m. This market is open at the River Market downtown with vendors lining all available space. Bring your dogs for a scroll and see what each stall has for you! Parking is free! There is also a Farmer’s Market at Bernice Garden, located in the Soma downtown neighborhood, on Saturdays as well!
Namaste Wednesdays at the Bernice Garden (May 26 – November 11, 2021)
Speaking of Bernice Garden, on Wednesdays, there’s a free yoga class! The class usually starts at 5:30 p.m. and lasts about an hour. (Donations are appreciated but not mandatory.)
Jazz in the Park – Sounds So Good Jazz Quintet (Wednesdays in September 2021)
The partnership between Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau and Art Porter Music Education brings local jazz musicians to the East River Market Pavilion in downtown Little Rock. Each Wednesday, listen to jazz for as long as you want between 6 and 8 p.m. This family-friendly event is free and open to anyone! Here’s the lineup:

Arkansas Travelers Baseball (April – September 2021)
Come support the Arkansas Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park this season! The season is coming to an end with the last game on the 18th. After the games on September 3 and 4, there will be fireworks on the field.
2021 Dancing with Our Stars Gala (September 9, 2021)
From 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., support the Children’s Tumor Foundation and the Arkansas Chapter to end Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that grows tumors on nerves, by purchasing your in-person or virtual ticket today. If you are unable to attend the event, you can still donate! Dancing with our Stars welcomes local celebrities to dance, and there will also be a super silent auction. Keep watch for what else there will be!
Arkansas Comic-Con (September 11 & 12, 2021)
This two-day event is for fans of all types. This year’s Arkansas Comic-Con will be held at the Statehouse Convention Center. General admission tickets are $25 per day or $40 for both days. Cosplay not required! Guests scheduled to come range from actors Jim O’Heir and Shannon Elizabeth or voice actors like Luci Christian and Loren Lester.
Downtown Historical Walking Tour (September 11, 2021)
Join this guided walking tour to learn more about downtown Little Rock! The tour is free and will start at the library on Rock Street. Holly Hope will be the leader of the tour and introduce you to the history of buildings you pass everyday. Holly works with the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, so she’s well versed in any and all historic significance of downtown Little Rock buildings.
Rib Cooking Competition & Community Fun! (September 25, 2021)
From 4-7p.m., stop by Ribfest on Chenal Parkway to try ribs and even help judge to find the best in town! St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church is working with Arkansas Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Cancer Unit to provide a fun afternoon full of live music, local vendors, and even college football! Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children ages six to 12.
Filmland – Presented by Arkansas Cinema Society (September 30 – October 3, 2021)
Celebrate cinema with Filmland in downtown Little Rock! Filmland has the goal to inspire Arkansas filmmakers and will do so by showcasing films created in Arkansas or made by an Arkansan. This year’s festival will take place across from UA-Little Rock Bowen School of Law on McMath Avenue. There will be space to watch the movies on the grounds, from your car, and even online!
