Summer In Little Rock During the COVID-19 Pandemic

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: “things look a little different this year.” Everything is different this year with social distancing, travel restrictions and business closures. Despite these trying times, there are still plenty of activities you can enjoy in Little Rock, AR, while practicing safe social distancing. Here is a list of some of our favorites for you to try with the whole family!
Visit the Little Rock Zoo
The Little Rock Zoo has reopened and they have implemented strict safety and cleaning policies. All entry requires a reservation and a one-way path has been created to reduce congestion and encourage social distancing. All visitors ages 10 and older are required to wear a face mask, additional hand-sanitizing stations have been set up around the park, and bathrooms and frequently touched surfaces like handrails are sanitized every two hours. If you are planning to eat a meal or snacks, some concession areas and vending machines will be available. If you choose to pack your own lunch, remember that outside food is not permitted in the zoo, but they may be enjoyed in the picnic area outside the Zoo’s Entry Plaza.

Go Hiking at Pinnacle Mountain State Park
Pinnacle Mountain State Park is just down the road in West Little Rock, but once you’re at the top, you’ll feel worlds away! The park has over 15 miles of trails of varying levels so there is plenty of space to stay safely distanced from others. The Base Trail is a 1.5-mile trail at the base of the mountain and it’s the perfect leisurely walk. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider taking the East Summit Trail. Be ready to climb over some massive boulders!

Take a Picnic to the Old Mill
Pack a picnic and enjoy one of North Little Rock’s greatest treasures: the Old Mill! The Old Mill is a recreation of an 1880’s water-powered grist mill.
